ONE OVERTURNED INTO THE CREEK
Sunday, August 17, 2008
-
While the company was already out on 2 other calls, the assignment was dispatched for one overturned on Oxmead Road between Kings Road and Manor Drive.  Squad 2723 (Whitley) was clearing the East Park area and was enroute with 4 members.  Units arrived and found a late model car on its roof in the creek along the roadside.  The patient was self extricated and had only minor bumps and bruises.  The squad's crew worked to mitigate the fluid run off down the stream by rigging hazmat booms across the bridge abutments.

America EMS 5092 handled the patient transport and Traffic 2729 secured the roadways.

Units finally cleared 2 hours later and 2702 (Capt. Desjardins) had the command.

C SHIFT RUNS THE TURNPIKE... TWICE
Monday, August 11, 2008
-
After a steady weekend full of traumas, flyouts, and the normal routine responses, the members of C Shift (Chief Johnson covering FF Witkowski & Safety Officer Whitley) and the company's volunteer members were hoping for an easy Monday so that everyone could get caught up on a little sleep, the house chores, and the usual mundane tasks... That wasn't gonna happen!

After starting the morning off with the normal EMS runs, the company was just settling in for lunch when at 1445hrs the assignment was dispatched sending Squad 27 to the New Jersey Turnpike (42 Milepost) for an overturned tank trailer on fire.  Squad 27 and Engine 3012 arrived simultaneously to find a tank trailer carrying dry cement mix overturned in a ditch with fire at the rear axles.  The 2 crews went to work extinguishing the fire.  Luckily the driver self extricated himself from the vehicle and was uninjured.  The Squad returned to quarters in just over 1 hour.  Battalion Chief 3604 (Sharkey) had the command.

At around 2230hrs, Squad 27 was sent as the southbound company to the Turnpike at the 39.6 milepost for a 2 vehicle accident with 1 subject trapped.  Squad 27 arrived 2nd due just behind Engine 3611 (Mount Laurel)  and assisted their crews with a door and B post removal on one vehicle and the remainder of Squad 27's crew secured the utilites on the second vehicle.  The Squad was back in Westampton in 45 minutes Battalion Chief 3603 (Kirvan) had the command.

For the "Easy" Monday, 8 calls were logged in 12 hours including these 2 incidents.

ANOTHER WEEK IN THE HISTORY BOOKS
Monday, August 11, 2008
-
As the week comes to a close, we enter another busy one into the history of our company.  The dedicated men and women of Westampton Township Emergency Services answered 58 calls for service since last sunday, including 2 MVA Rescue Assignments, 2 Trauma-Fly Outs, several other serious nature medical incidents, and a handful of close call fire incidents.  We even found the time to support Alex's Lemonade Stand by making the Q102 crew look good and letting them defeat us in a charity baseball game.

At all times, we have maintained at least 1 Ambulance and 1 Engine crew in house and ready to serve.

Just another example of how we are continually "Raising the Standard in Community Service"

WTES PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT
Tuesday, August 5, 2008
-
The WTES in conjunction with the Mount Holly Police Department participated in a National Night Out event in the municipal lot of Mount Holly Township.  Three WTES members attended the event bringing "UTILITY" 2729 and the KIDS Fire Safety Trailer.  Dozens of area children and their parents had the oppertunity to tour the Safety Trailer and learn valuable information on how to prevent fires in the home and also how to react in emergency situations.  A good time was had by all and we are looking forward to doing it again next year.
