At approximately 0545 Rescue 363, Engine 361, Station 368, Station 509, Squad 27, and Medic 35 were dispatched to the NJTP at MM 40 Northbound for the motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment. Medic 35 was first arriving with what appeared to be one vehicle overturned, but 3603 arrived and found the other vehicle to be a tractor trailer overturned off of the road over an embankment partially submerged into the creek. Engine 3611, Rescue 3639, and Squad 27(Getz) arrived and began to assess the situation. It was quickly decided by command and the crews that Squad 27 and Rescue 3639’s rope rescue equipment compliments were going to need to be utilized to gain access to the patient. Tower 3635 was special called to the scene to act as a high anchor point for the rescue operation. Crews from both 27 and 36 used technical rescue skills and hydraulic tools to remove the patient. Rescue Company 13 (Cherry Hill) was dispatched for an additional technical rescue due to length of the incident, but was not utilized due to patient being extricated shortly after arrival. Patient was extricated in approximately two hours and fifteen minutes and was flown to the trauma center via Southstar.
