Sunday, December 20, 2009 - After only a couple hours of sleep, the crews from the 27 were back at it again...
At 0925hrs, units from 16, 90, 23, and 12 went out with an Attic Fire in the Buckingham Park section of Willingboro. This sent Engine 27 (Capt. Desjardins) with 4 to cover Station 161. The Engine stood by for a couple hours and returned back to quarters at 1110hrs.
After a few more EMS runs, at 1221hrs, Squad 27 was dispatched to Exit 45 North on Route 295 for a Tractor Trailer leaking fuel. Ambulance 2781 returning from a run arrived and found the TT had ripped a fuel tank causing a 180 gallon spill of diesel for over a mile of the snow covered highway. Squad 27 (Kramer) with 4 arrived and immediately worked with the Ambulance's crew to Dike and Contain the leaking fuel and prevent any further enviromental hazard. The Squad and Ambo remained on location for several hours with the NJSP, DEP, and Burlington County Health Department while the fuel was cleaned up and the truck was removed by a tow service.
The Department handled over 30 calls during the weekend storm.
