Saturday, November 9, 2013 At approximately 0937, hours SQ2723 (Iannacone) was dispatched to Route 295 in the area of exit 47 for a reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle hitting a tree. The crew arrived first to find a single vehicle against a tree fully involved with a patient with serious injuries lying in the grass near the side of the road. A passerby had removed the patient from the vehicle. Lt Iannacone requested a medical helicopter due to the nature of the injuries. BLS3692 arrived and took over patient care from SQ2723 crew and then the remainder of the crew joined up with the crew extinguishing the vehicle fire. R3018 crew arrived and assisted with the vehicle fire. The BLS unit with Medic 32 transported the patient by ground to a trauma center. E4013 was on scene to secure the LZ, but then recalled.
While clearing the scene of the MVA, SQ2723 was advised to respond to Mount Holly Ave in district 50 for a reported dwelling fire. Chief 1300 arrived to find a duplex with fire in the rear of both units and placed the companies in service. E5011 and SQ2723 arrived together with E5011 filling the engine duties going in service with an attack line, and SQ2723 taking up the truck duties searching and venting. The crews did a great job and made a quick stop to the fire. Other units on scene to assist were E5012, E3411, R3419, E1313, R1319, E3912, RIT 1712, and BLS 5093.
Overall, the crews handled 12 calls for the shift.
